• Special message: There are a lot of happy campers who have already taken advantage of the Academy's Flash Sale and have begun their courses. We've extended sale through June 4! Look at this array of available color wheels! Your first observation might be that this one is just too simple, that it doesn't include any guidance for mixing colors. Do we need printed guidance for using on a measuring cup? Does a carpenter need instruction for how to use it attached to a tape measure? A color wheel is a utilitarian guide with as many possibilities visually built into it for the painter as the measuring cup has for the chef, or a tape measure for a builder. It's only a matter of knowing how to use it rather than following formulas built into it. INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO USE THE COLOR WHEEL Here is a short video
for how to use the color wheel. I call this "Color Wheel Corrections" meaning correcting the way we think about the color wheel. You can get a free pdf of my simple 12-hue color wheel Enjoy an enlightening weekend! During my Language of Painting series, I explained the role of our visual elements. If you'd like to review those roles to better understand the behavior of elements, here are the links to each of those
