Last week when I showed you my watercolor Grab & Go kit, I told you I have another and that's what I'm showing you today. This one serves me whenever I don't want to haul out all my plein air gear for oil painting.
BETTER FOR OILS OR ACRYLICS
I have found that gouache is a perfect Grab & Go medium for doing small studies for oil paintings. Even though gouache is a water
based medium, I find it ideal for doing extended studies and even though it dries fast, it will re-wet and keep on going.
I have everything I need packed in a light weight backpack, including a three-legged stool.
Remaining in my backpack ready to go out the door are the stool, my tube colors, and my little Julian box containing my gear. and
my 6x6 inch sketchbook. I usually throw into the backpack drinking water, snacks, bug spray and anything else I might need.
Attached to the box is my water supply for painting. I have its pouch velcroed to the box for easy removal. I keep the
tubes in a zip lock bag to prevent a mess in case some color decides to escape out of the tubes.
All my painting gear fits nicely in the box.
I installed little magnets on the inside to hold the metal palette in place.
The only reason I'm not on the riverbank right now is that it's raining, but I can take this kit on my screened porch and find plenty of stuff
to feed the artist in me.
