Back in the day when I was driving to our school, one of my favorite games was listening to classical music on radio and trying to identify
the composer. Bach and Chopin have distinctively different voices, yet one is not better than the other. Bring it forward a bit: the Beetles and the Mamas and Papas - you need only to hear them to identify them. In painting, you recognize a Andrew Wyeth and a Richard Schmid, a Georgia O'Keefe and a Pablo Picasso, a Norman Rockwell and a Aubrey Beardsley -- all these are identifiable by their work. For each of them, it's their unique voice
that makes them recognizable.
