The wild violets along the trail in my woods are, this Spring, richer in color than usual. Or am I noticing them with different eyes than during former springtimes? These days, we are called to pause. Pausing
can be rejuvenating if we allow it to refresh our contact with nature, and with life.
There is a kind of refreshing pause called Zen drawing. I've talked about it before in these posts, and four years ago I created a Quick Tip about it
(below). During the process of doing Zen drawing, if your attention is totally on the sensation of feeling the edges of a subject, that's all you are doing--just trying to feel the movement along the edges.
When we're doing exercises like this, we're removing ourselves form any concern other than feeling the movement of our subject. We're clearing our heads and our
hearts. It's a kind of artist meditation. We're not trying to create a product, but just giving ourselves an experience of discovery, and that's a good idea right now.
STAY HOME!!! STAY SAFE!!! ZEN DRAW!!! And enjoy your weekend.
