Assisi said, "What we are looking for is what is looking." Perhaps stopping right there and allowing
that to sink in would be my wisest move, but here I go anyway. Too often, without realizing it, we are looking through somebody else's eyes rather than our own. For some unforeseen reason, we lack confidence in our OWN eyes, those eyes we were born with before other folks had a chance to influence them.

- Now, look at what you wrote down: Was it a question or a statement? Was it a description or a judgement?
- Now, here's the big one: can you name a person who most influenced that first thought?
The above exercise might seem mundane or even useless to you, but consider this: When we know where our thoughts come from, we can decide whether to keep them or re-examine them.
