Got You Covered! From time to time, our YouTube subscribers add helpful ideas in the Comments section of our Quick Tips. I love the inventive mind and
especially enjoy rigs other folks come up with rather than spending money on commercial inventions such as viewfinders, brush holders and palettes. If you have an invention that makes your painting life easier, sent it to me in an email and I'll share it with our YouTube

USING SPLIT COMPLEMENTS WORKSHOP
A limited palette of split complements is one of the most fascinating palettes of color to work with. We're going to thoroughly explore ways to work with a split complementary palette in the live stream workshop on September 12. Here is one of my paintings in which I limited my palette to a set of
split complements: yellow orange, violet and blue.
In this Workshop, we will learn how to find and set up a split complementary palette and how to use it to create color harmony, add vibrancy and
use subtle neutrals to give unity to our compositions. To register, go HERE and cursor down to USING SPLIT COMPLEMENTS.
HAVE YOU PLAYED WITH COLOR SCHEMES?
Experimenting with color schemes can open up all sorts
of new avenues for understanding ways to work with color. Learning to use split complements is only one. In my Series 30, Applying Color Schemes, I had a lot of fun taking a single scene and showing ways to transpose it into four different color schemes. If the workshop is not right for you, take a look at these lessons. |
